When it comes to following Jesus, playing it safe was never an option. From “take up your cross” and all that it means, to the parables of Matthew 25, we are called to adventure and faith and risk. But is it really risky? Maybe the riskiest thing is to play it safe.
Is there something you’ve grown comfortable with that God never designed you to be comfortable with? Prayers you prayed for so long that you’ve given up praying? He sees. He comes to where we are. He speaks new hope to us. Let’s pray like it!
We all wish life was a little more predictable. But never should our life be more unpredictable than when we live every moment following the lead of the Holy Spirit.
What fears are getting in the way of your faith? What experiences have left a mark, and you’re finding a hard, scary path forward? John tells us about one ingredient to banish fear - and it’s something you already know about…
Ok, so there’s nothing too hard for the Lord. But are some things hardER? If we sometimes limit what we think we can ask, then yes. But what does God say?
What have you encountered on the path that seemed like it might kill some part of you - family, career, faith? What if you knew that it was necessary to live the future that God planned for you? How would that affect your perspective?
Do you exist for prayer or does prayer exist for you?
Here is the church, here is the steeple, open up the doors - what makes church the church is people!!
Ever had a God-sized dream but thought it too big to believe for? Ever have God put something in your heart that you just never thought would happen? What happens when He asks YOU to be the one to make it happen? Listen in and see…
What if you got up today like every other day, not really expecting anything special… and something special happened? What if today’s the day??
Ever have one of those stick-your-foot-in-your-mouth moments? Maybe especially during an argument? Just a good ol’ fashioned “someone just proved me dead wrong” kind of deal? It’s humbling. And sometimes, we needed it.
Sometimes when we’ve tried our best, we hate asking for help. Something about us is fiercely independent at times. What if that’s not a sign of strength, but a signal that we might not be thinking enough about God?
When it comes to living the Jesus life, we’ve all probably ended up at the realization that “knowing isn’t enough”. In fact, most of our approach to discipleship assumes that we need to know better to be better. But what if we’re more than merely “thinking things”?
Surprises are sometimes good and sometimes not - but they are always a… surprise! So why does God seem to surprise us with His answers to our prayers? Listen in for a surprise answer to that question. :)
We often think first of ourselves when prayer comes to mind - either what we’re feeling, or how good/bad we’ve been. But our first thoughts of prayer really should focus our attention on someone greater than us.
Imagine if one shift in how we approach God in prayer changed everything! One change in perspective can encourage our requests, and cause us to pray from a whole new level of expectation.
Where would you least expect God to show up today? Like Jacob, we sometimes wake up to what’s around us and say, “God was here, and I wasn’t even aware!”. So, where, or with whom, would you least expect God to be present?
If Jesus showed up and went through your day with you, what would be the result? How would you be different? Not just what would you do - but how would you BE different?
Would those changes fill you with joy? Why not start now?
What happens when you have no time, but a heart hungry to see God’s love fill-up a circumstance? You pray. But does it work? Was the prayer too quick? Does God honor short prayers? You bet!
Sometimes we just need to be close to Dad - not because we’re trying to get something from Him!
